Career Progression
There is a clear route for progression within the company. Many people start by supporting the site team as a Labourer, before building the skills and confidence needed to become a Lead Operative. From there, experienced installers may progress into a Team Leader role, taking responsibility for running jobs, supporting others and maintaining quality standards on site.
As the business continues to grow, we want to develop people who are committed to high standards and interested in building a long-term career in fencing, gates and garden structures.
Skilled Labourer
A Labourer supports the site team with the day-to-day work needed to deliver fencing, gate and garden structure installations efficiently.
This role involves assisting with site preparation, manual handling, mixing concrete, loading and unloading vehicles, keeping the site tidy, and following instructions from more experienced members of the team. It is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who is physically fit, reliable and willing to learn.
For the right person, this can be the first step towards becoming a skilled fencing operative.
Lead Operative
A Lead Operative is a competent installer who can carry out fencing, gate and garden structure work to a high standard. This role may involve working independently on smaller jobs, working alongside a Labourer, or supporting a Team Leader on larger projects.
The role includes setting out posts, levels and lines accurately, reading drawings or specifications, maintaining workmanship standards, completing basic site documentation, and reporting progress or issues to the Team Leader or office.
This position suits someone with strong practical skills, good attention to detail and the confidence to take responsibility for their own work on site.
Team Leader
A Team Leader is responsible for running a two-person or larger team and managing fencing, gate and garden structure installations from start to finish.
This role includes planning daily tasks, allocating work, supervising Lead Operatives and Labourers, liaising with customers, completing site paperwork and photos, coordinating materials, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the expected standard.
A good Team Leader leads by example, communicates clearly, supports junior team members, and takes pride in delivering a professional customer experience.
